Enjoy a beautiful floating home in Sausalito. Our light- and art-filled, deep-water, 2-bedroom, 3-deck floating home in an excellent location on Liberty Dock. This is our full-time home - only occasionally available when we are travelling for more than a month. The Liberty Dock homes are 30-day minimum rental - no exceptions.
Location: The home occupies a prime deep water, inside-corner berth on Liberty Dock -- the perfect spot! The walk from the parking lot along the dock to the home is about 300 paces with carts available for shopping and luggage. It is a 5-minute drive to the Golden Gate Bridge, and two miles from downtown Sausalito where you can take a 25 minute ferry across the bay to San Francisco. (There are also buses that get you to downtown SF in 40 minutes -- in comfort and with some of the best commuting views you will find anywhere in the world).
We are walking distance to miles of hiking trails, bike and walking paths, easy kayaking on Richardson Bay, and great restaurants within a few blocks. To the north, Stinson Beach, Point Reyes, Napa-Sonoma Wine Country are all in easy reach. Plenty of places to visit easily, if you can pull yourself away from sitting on the roof deck with a good book, or looking out at seals, pelicans, waterfowl, and the occasional river otter.
The home: You come up the gangway to a front deck with couch, breakfast table and chairs: a wonderful spot for breakfast as it catches the morning sun. The front door opens to the open main level with kitchen/dining/living area and a second larger deck. The well-stocked kitchen is full of light, and has a wood floor, granite countertops, all new appliances (dishwasher, 5-burner gas stove, double door fridge and freezer, microwave) and a kitchen/dining table. The living room has two couches (one sink-in white leather), cherry wood floor, rugs, lots of cushions, large Japanese tansu sideboard, flat-screen TV, Bose Sound dock for IPod (portable), and a mid-century fireplace with gas insert.
Glass sliding doors open to a large back deck, with outdoor seating, propane firepit, and deck railings that double as seating. Great for evening meals and drinks at sunset. Steps from the back deck take you to a large floating dock with two kayaks. A redwood staircase takes you up to the third outdoor living area: a large railed-off roof deck with teak dining table and bench, couch, sitting cushions and umbrella -- the best place to read, relax and enjoy 360 views of Richardson Bay, marinas, Mount Tamalpais, Tiburon, Angel Island with the San Francisco skyline and Bay Bridge in the distance.
The lower floor has cherry and walnut wood floors. The large master bedroom has walk-in closet, full-length wood mirror, three large Japanese tansus, acacia wood queen bed with European Sleepworks mattress, more original art and a window looking out at water level to the floating dock with kayaks. The second smaller bedroom also has a brand new full bed with memory foam mattress, window looking under the dock (great for spotting night herons and other waterfowl on the ropes at night), and has cherry wood floor and rugs. The bathroom includes a full bath with shower, wood floors and lovely colored tiles.
What else? Rent includes utilities, wifi, and cable tv (including on demand, HBO and Showtime) in living room and bedroom. There is a washer and dryer in the closet off the second bedroom. This is our own home -- not an ongoing rental. We are looking for someone who will love it and care for it accordingly. It is fully-furnished with original art throughout.
Finally but very important: We are strictly a no-smoking house and sorry to say no pets are allowed (we have serious allergies). We have the best neighbors in the world -- an incredibly welcoming and social community -- who help each other out when needed, socialize often, but also respect each other's privacy and need for quiet. Please be aware that when then you stay on a floating home, you are a guest in a close knit community. While you are welcome to have a few guests over, it is essential that you respect the community's right to peace and privacy and behave as a good neighbor.
